Recorded during the 1993 "Nightbreaker"
rehearsals, this pairing of two of US Metal's greats was almost ten years in the making.
Following JAG PANZER's dissolution Harry Conklin actually joined RIOT for a short while back in 1984,
when after then-vocalist Rhett Forrester quit the band.
The liaison was short-lived however, with throat problems on the eve of a pair of West Coast showcase gigs forcing Conklin out, and bringing Forrester back into the fold, albeit briefly.
Following some time RIOT spent as tour mates with Conklin's next band TITAN FORCE, the friendship between "The Tyrant" & Mark Reale was rekindled in the early 1990's, as the bands found themselves part of a Far Eastern tour package.
So when the band found themselves without a singer while shopping material for
the 1993 "Nightbreaker" album, Reale put out the call for Conklin, who was only too happy to oblige. This time however, "The Tyrant" was just helping out, there was no plan for him to join the band.
By the time the band got around to recording the album, Mike DiMeo had been installed as
the vocalist of RIOT, a post he held for the next decade.
So enjoy this rare peek into what might have been and marvel at the sparks created when these Metal titans finally met.
